Spicy and Savory Sloppy Joe
When we think of comfort foods, one of our classic childhood favorites includes the Sloppy Joe. Not just for school lunch trays, our version with a spicy kick of rendang sauce will be sure to warm you up during the chilly winter!
Our recipe has that spicy heat from the jalapeno peppers and the Ayam curry paste for beef rendang. Rendang is a popular traditional Indonesian spicy meat dish where the meat is slow-cooked in coconut milk and spices, allowing it to absorb all those great flavors. With Ayam’s rendang paste, we’re luckily able to capture those same great flavors in a lot less time!
3/4 cup onions, diced
1/2 cup jalapenos, diced
16 oz ground beef
1 cup Ayam coconut milk
1 tbsp chicken bouillon powder
1/2 cup Ayam curry paste for beef rendang (sauce)
4 hamburger buns
shredded cheese (for topping)
•Render ground beef in a large sauce pan on medium heat until the beef is soft and done; pour out any excess fat
•Add chopped onions and jalapenos, and cook for about 3-5 minutes
•Add the coconut milk, rendang sauce, and chicken bouillon powder
•Cook until the mixture thickens
•Season with salt and pepper to taste
•Scoop Sloppy Joe mixture onto each hamburger bun; sprinkle with desired amount of cheese
