February is a month for celebrations – Black History and Valentines, you name it, however it’s also a month for ultimate bacon worship. All around North America, bacon lovers young and old gather together to celebrate their favorite crispy juicy pork belly treats in many shapes and sizes. Our Los Angeles chapter Bacon Fest happened at the historic Petersen Automotive Museum, where we served alongside great gourmet brands such as Mendocino Farms, Starry Kitchen, Westside Tavern and 40+ other great restaurants. We recently were selected to be the wedding caterer of Cori and Craig’s outdoor romantic nuptial, beautifully captured by the talented Laura Goldenberger.

Taking place in the lush Orcutt Ranch in West Hills, the wedding was filled with personal touches, warm smiles, beautiful people and of course yummy food, ehem… Komodo Truck Catering and Company

We are so lucky to have been able to cater so many joyous wedding celebrations in the past, this one was no exception.

Set at the brilliant Siren Studio in Hollywood, Nate and Rhiannon Franz’s wedding celebration was “Old Hollywood” meets “Modern Cool”; unexpected, chic and completely breathtaking. Having the Komodo Truck on site- adds the cherry on top. We are so proud and exhilarated to be selected to be their wedding caterer and we could not be anymore excited for this beautiful couple. Thanksgiving is fast approaching and we recently took time to give back to our local community at the Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition as a part of our new Thanksgiving tradition; we absolutely LOVED IT. This fantastic organization is run by a small group of passionate people, committed to helping and feeding hungry Angelinos in the most inspiring ways. It’s entirely non-profit, the kitchen relies on donation from local restaurants, bakeries, food banks to fuel its supplies. It was super eye-opening to be on site, working side by side to churn out, organize and help distribute food with the most bare bones of resources/tools and limited inventory.

It’s definitely inspiring to see that it does not take much to make a change in people’s lives, it all takes a little imagination, willingness to roll up your sleeves, and trained resourcefulness. At the end of the day, we were super proud to have spent our days with the team and came out rejuvenated, grateful and empowered. Thank you GWHFC! You guys truly rock! We’re in love with Goodform Vintage Aluminum chair and when we saw Crate & Barrel/Emeco‘s re imagining of these beauty, we snagged them for our cafe.

A little bit about these chairs- The midcentury “Goodform” seating line began in August 1932 with the introduction of the Model #2123 by General Fireproofing Company (GF) in Youngstown, Ohio. During the panic of 1907, when all building practically ceased, the company (originally a building manufacturing company) decided to emphasize their line steel office furniture. During World War II, GF ceased production of all its regular products in order to manufacture aircraft parts. After VJ Day, almost the entire plant had to be converted back to the manufacture of furniture, and by 1946 the company was producing the same volume they were in 1938. In 1948, GF introduced the Mode-Maker line of executive office desks, designed in collaboration with Raymond Loewy.

A little bit about Pastry Chef Donna Liu
Chef Liu developed a serious interest in baking as she learned tricks to make delicious fruit tarts and cupcakes at The Gourmandise School. As a college graduate in Visual Arts, Chef Liu knew exactly how to appreciate the artistry in cake decorating. She began her training in Patisserie and Baking at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts to become a pastry chef. For her internship program, Donna worked at the world-renowned The French Laundry restaurant in Yountville, CA, where she learned ‘Finesse’ in food making. Currently Chef Liu also designs beautiful wedding cakes, specialty cakes, and sugar flowers for her client. She is also collaborating with us to do custom event cupcakes and fun cookies, so make sure to inquire if you are curious!

We had the pleasure of catering Conde Nást & Vogue for their annual Fashion Night Out event in Beverly Hills in May 2012. It was a beautiful evening full of fashion, hair, makeup, jewelry and of course Komodo. The guests were supplied with a delectable menu of our classic tacos, meatballs, mac n’ cheese and chinese chicken salad. Check out some of the shots from the event below.
