In celebration of Indonesia’s upcoming Independence Day (August 17), we are featuring our Indonesian Beef Rendang Dish- Java.
Beef Rendang is a dish which originated from the Minangkabau ethnic group of Indonesia, and is now commonly served across the country. One of the characteristic foods of Minangkabau culture, it is served at ceremonial occasions and to honour guests
Our Java/ Beef Rendang is slowly cooked in coconut milk and spices for several hours until almost all the liquid is gone, allowing the meat to absorb the spicy condiments. It takes as long as 3-4 hours to fully cook this delectable dish and get all the flavors down, definitely something worth waiting for. The cooking process changes from boiling to frying as the liquid evaporates. The slow cooking process allows the meat to absorb all the spices and to become tender. There are many versions of cooking Rendang of course, but our Java/Beef Rendang will blow you away. Topped with Cucumber Salad, our Java Beef Rendang dish is our favorite take on this classic Indonesian dish.
